Sedation Dentistry

Many people feel anxious when it comes to receiving dental care treatments. A certain amount of apprehension is to be expected. Most people tend to relax once they know what to expect and have an idea about how the dental procedure will be performed. At Dr. C Family Dentistry, we take the time to get to know you and we listen to your concerns regarding your oral health. We take your comfort and your oral health seriously.

However, if you are a person who has great anxiety at the thought of dental care, even having an explanation of the procedure may do little to help you relax. In such cases sedation may be the best option for you. Your comfort is one of our main priorities and for those patients who have serious anxiety issues in the dental chair, we offer the latest advancements in sedation techniques. Whatever procedure you may be facing, it will go better with sedation as you relax and feel calmer. Your anxiety and stress will melt away and before you know it, your procedure will be completed and you will feel refreshed and relaxed.

Oral Conscious Sedation

We have mild sedation in the form of a medicine that your take before we begin the procedure. This allows you to become relaxed and feel calm and comfortable while still conscious and awake. You will have full alertness so you will know what is happening to you, but without the stress and anxiety you normally experience.

Nitrous Oxide

Another option we offer is nitrous oxide also known as laughing gas. This will put you in a relaxed state and some patients relax to the point of dozing off. This is our sedation of choice for children and adolescents who may experience dental anxiety. After the procedure is completed, your system is flushed with oxygen and you emerge feeling refreshed.

If sedation sounds like it would help you with your dental anxiety, let us know. We will need to review your health history including current medications and supplements. Let us know of any habits you may have such as alcohol use or smoking. A thorough health history is required for careful consideration as we plan your treatment using sedation. Contact Dr. C Family Dentistry today for a consultation regarding our sedation dentistry options.
